Sailaway Sweater and the Ewe Ewe Knitting Community
Hi, hello!
I realize I haven't dropped in with a Heather's Happenings for a little while because for a long stretch there wasn't much happening.
May is always a quiet time of year for knitting since the weather changes and we get back outside for those fresh days of Spring. I took advantage of the slowdown and took a few days off to go visit my dad.
Hi, Dad! 👋
Being out of the office meant I had a ton of time to knit. Yay!
On my way to Pennsylvania I finished my Fluffy Fusion Shawl and I love it. It was such a relaxing and easy knit, plus I ended up needing to wear it in during my trip since it was 45° and raining sideways when I arrived!
I knit the kit colorway called Shining Star 🌟 if you'd like to knit your own.
And, you know a knitter always has another project (or 10!) in her bag. I, being no exception to this rule, cast on this year's Olive Knits 4-Day KAL sweater called Sailaway ⛵️
If you aren't familiar with Marie Greene's annual knit-along, it's a huge party where we all knit the same sweater. It's called a 4-Day KAL because as legend has it, Marie knit the first one in four days during a long weekend alone.
But don't worry! Now the KAL is for all of July with prizes, fun stuff and tons of knitting chatter. Read all about it on oliveknits.com >
As a Featured Yarn Vendor for the big knit-along, I am able to receive a preview copy of the pattern so I can knit a sample for you to see how Wooly Worsted yarn works in this design.
I'm using Heather's Heathers color Berry for the main color and Wooly Worsted in Citrus Pop and Teal for the contrasting colors. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about knitting Sailaway with Ewe Ewe yarn!
We can talk colors, gauge, sizing, whatever you need. There's plenty of time to choose, plan and have everything ready by cast-on day.
Simply send me an email here and we can chat!
In addition to all this knitting, I created a new Ewe Ewe knitting community!
Club Ewe Ewe is an online group where we can share our projects, talk about knitting and cheer each other on with our favorite hobby.
It's a lot like the Ewe Ewe blog posts you've enjoyed over the years but with a lot more room for all of us to chat and share. Fun!
Inside you'll find lots of posts like these adorable shorty socks, a big post of five t-shirts to knit now, and even some great knitting memes from our members! Check out the posts where we share our WIPs every Wednesday or answer a poll question or two.
Club Ewe Ewe is a welcoming and uplifting online community offered by me as a way of bringing you – the fans and friends of Ewe Ewe Yarns – together in one place where we can all get to know one another better.
I hope you'll join me inside Club Ewe Ewe! Join the free group today >
I'll leave you with my first fresh finds from my garden. A very nice volunteer tomato plant gave me a big harvest of ripe cherry tomatoes and I was able to pick a couple shishito peppers to enjoy early in the season.
As for what's happening here at Ewe Ewe, we just created a set of Pride yarn kits which have been requested many times over the years. Yay! 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️
And the next big project is an overhaul of one of my most-popular designs, the Easy As ABC baby sweater. Easy As ABC is a quick top-down raglan sweater using worsted weight yarn that has been a best-seller since I launched it 10 years ago!
I later designed the complementary patterns Fresh Squeezed in sport weight and Sweet Dreaminess in bulky weight.
Can you see where is going?
Yes, the next is one is for Fluffy Fingering!
The twist is that I'd like to combine all 4 weights of the sweater into one comprehensive pattern so that no matter what yarn you want to knit with, the design is right there for you in one ebook.
What do you think? A multi-size, multi-gauge pattern. I'd love your feedback on the idea!
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you found this entertaining to read and that I'll see you in Club Ewe Ewe!
Happy knitting,
💗 Heather

I love the photos with your pop and the travel knitting. You are such a temptress with the Sweather KAL, I am so tempted, but I have to finish my celebration blanket. Well, I guess I just have to give in to being one of those people with many projects in queue or on my needles. :) Seriously, thank you for sharing such an exciting project and KAL.
