5 Easy Steps: How to Care for Your Handknitted Projects

5 Easy Steps: How to Care for Your Handknitted Projects

Our knitting goes everywhere with us whether its on the needles or we’re wearing it.

Washing and blocking our garments is easy with the right supplies and these simple steps!

Watch on YouTube >

1. Fill a basin with room temperature water.

Using water that is comfortable to the touch is best when blocking handknits.

2. Add fiber wash and swish around to distribute.

Soak™ is our favorite gentle laundry soap here at Ewe Ewe Yarns!

3. Submerge garment and let soak for 15-20 minutes.

During this step the detergent is doing the work to remove invisible dirt such as body oils.

4. Drain off water gently supporting the garment.

If the garment is still too damp, roll it in a towel to remove excess water.

💡 PRO TIP: The water may look a little murky by now. If so, repeat steps 1-4 until the water runs clear!

5. Lay garment flat to dry completely.

Maybe the project requires a firm blocking with pins and wires but most don’t; just lay it flat and wait it out.
